About Us

Hi there, and welcome to High Maintenance Jewellery. I’m Kate Hunter, Jewellery Designer, Founder and Owner of High Maintenance Jewellery.

High Maintenance Jewellery was established in 2009 and has since grown to be a recognised and independent brand.

Having the freedom to create handmade jewellery pieces and seeing our clients reactions when wearing their finished pieces, drives and ignites both myself and HMJ.

One of our main aspects is that we specialise in bespoke jewellery pieces for clients. All of our jewellery is personally designed and handmade, making each jewellery piece have a personal connection to the wearer.

Injecting a unique and full flavour into each piece, we take you on a colourful journey and sustain you as a strong part of the creativity along the way.

HMJ is a business that understands the need of individuality. We are available for one-to-one consultations with our clients if they desire a bespoke piece of jewellery, a gift, and/or jewellery to style with a specific outfit.
We pride ourselves on our customer service, quality, and approachable pleasant nature - holding many HMJ events, competitions, pop-up shops, jewellery parties and workshops.

High Maintenance Jewellery also donate to a wide selection of national charities, and provide seasonal jewellery collections to local stockists.
Diversity is a strong element of High Maintenance Jewellery, which makes our bespoke jewellery pieces highly sought after.

We are the proud sponsors of our local community girls football team, Springhead Falcons U9's, and thoroughly enjoy their football matches, training sessions, and their fantastic attitudes as a team and as individuals!

Our private workshop jewellery parties for children are extremely popular, especially for celebrating birthdays (and school holidays!) Our HMJ children’s workshops are engaging and exciting, where children can design in such a creative and fun way!

Each child receives guidance, encouragement, and support - helping them to become the Jewellery Designer and showing how to carefully design and plan using colours and pattern before delving in!

HMJ children’s workshops help to teach children numerous development skills such as; creative thinking, social interaction, patience, fine motor skills, sharing, problem solving, confidence building and many other aspects.

High Maintenance Jewellery also teach a range of jewellery workshops to the public.

Working with the charity MacMillan Cancer Support, teaching jewellery design at The Queens Centre, (East Yorkshire) for The Teenage Cancer Trust, and also with children at Home from Hospital.

We are extremely proud to be requested to work with such applaudable and hardworking charities.

In 2016 I was approached by the NHS to design and create a meaningful keepsake pendant for women who suffer loss of a child in early pregnancy.

I personally create and supply the NHS ‘forget-me-not’ charity with these pendants, at the EPAU and Cedar Ward at Hull & East Yorkshire Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

I am honoured to still continue to provide our pendants to the NHS charity, and also to provide the keepsakes privately around the United Kingdom.

Thank you for visiting High Maintenance Jewellery.
